I am calm, laid-back, level-headed, kind, tech-head geek. :) I have a good work-ethic and a stressful job, so I like to completely relax at home. I live a self-sufficient life, trying to be a humble person, and am self-aware. Even though I am quiet and laid-back, I am very friendly, competitive among friends, and can sometimes be very talkative.

Friendship/Relationship:
I am looking for friends to share life with. I believe a great long-term relationship starts as a solid friendship, with common interests. If only a solid friendship is born, great! If something deeper develops, even better! A long-term relationship with a best friend is at the root of my search, but finding new friends is always a good thing as well.

Finances:

Religion:

My life has been filled with so much change that I have failed to dedicate enough time to update my profile on okc. As of now I have returned home from Africa in March and separated from the military in May. I am now back home preparing to start school in January full time along with finding a career.

Not going to take much time on this portion, because if anyone is interested in knowing more than message me. As of now I am deployed to Africa with the military where I travel to different countries rebuilding them. My long journey of six years in the military ends in march when i return home and I can't wait for that major change in my life!

The basics: I am a twenty-two year old, INFJ college student. I've lived near Washington D.C. all my life and can be a bit of an elitest because of it. I prefer small towns, but I don't know how people get along in the world outside the distribution area of the Washington Post. This is my last year as an undergraduate. I go to a private women's college, which is a lot of fun, but not the greatest for meeting members of the opposite sex. God-willing, I'll graduate with a major in political science and a minor in psychology two subjects in which I have a passionate interest that extends beyond the classroom; my concentrations are international relations and developmental/educational psychology. I read a good bit for pleasure and lately have been indulging in a non-fiction rut. I would rather: wine than beer, stay in than go out, morning to night, ink pens not pencils, tulips to roses, Mac over PC. I loathe the phone and wish I had space to garden.

The more than elemental: Would that I could have a fourth adjective, it would be serious. Having one life I think that it is important not to go through it haphazardly. Taking things seriously hasn't prevented me from having fun - I like fun, laughing, friendship and going out on the town and I'm serious enough about those things to make time for them instead of assuming that fun will find me. If I'm working, I'm working hard; if I'm socializing, it's with people I like; if I'm napping, I'm under the covers with my glasses off -- for serious. Treating life like it's important has never stopped me from laughing at myself, other people, or what's in the news. Maybe a better way to say this would be, "I really don't like being superficial," but that begins to sound like "I hate phonies" and one of my great short-comings is a lack of appreciation for The Catcher in the Rye. I'm sorry. I just don't get it.

I like ambition. Not the blind ambition that tramples everything in it's wake, and not the ambition that assumes the accumulation of wealth and power. I say that I am ambitious in the sense that I want each day to be better and more fulfilling than the one before. I want to make more challenging recipes, learn new songs on the guitar and develop deeper closer friendships. I am happy with my life but not contented, and I like being around people who are similarly ambitious.

More and more I become old-fashioned. The "Good Old Days" certainly weren't so good but I am at times baffled and concerned for society as a whole. I worry that we are too individualistic and neglect the fundamental humanity of our fellow man. On a level this is my admission that I am a small 'c' conservative, a word which as a party Democrat has implications I necessarily resent.

"The Skinny" section in the right hand side indicates that I am Christian and "somewhat serious about it." The whole truth would be that I am "increasingly serious about it." Religion is important to me and I have deeply held beliefs about God which I do not intend to foist on anyone else. I recently read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and was greatly affected by it. I enjoy discussing religion, theology and faith, but I'm not interested in arguing or proselytizing.

Actually, I'm not interested in arguing about anything.

Lastly, Why am I here? (On OKCupid): this is a small way for me to leave a door open to possibility, the possibility of making a new friend or meeting a potential significant other, but I am not actively pursuing either. I'm coming home to Washington where my social circle has dwindled. I'd like to meet more people of quality. My life isn't empty, but can always be enhanced. I'm hopeful that in reading this someone thinks, "that's what I believe," or is otherwise intrigued in a polysyllabic profile with few exclamation marks.

I have read enough of these profiles to know that they are mostly shopping lists of what we are looking for in a potential mate. I am really not looking for any particular "type" of person. It would be easier to say what I am not looking for. I am very open minded in some regards but not so much in others. I know in my social group of co-workers, I am considered the odd one, but in a good way. I am not overly relgious but that does not mean I am not spiritual.
I have read on here that many of us consider ourselves "unique" which is awesome and perplexing to me at the same time. While we are all unique and different, we are all the same as well. I just find this in itself amusing, because I too think of myself as different, weird almost but in a good way. I always find myself drawn to the strange quirkiness of people.
I take delight in finding a positive thing to smile about everyday. Whether it is a person, a sunrise, or something that happened during the day. I try to keep an positive outlook on things even when they are grim. I am one of those the glass is half-full kinda people. Of course, part of my job is to see and find the best abilities in people and use those to the best advantage. I learn so much from what I do everyday.

I'm half-American, half-Irish and grew up (for the most part) in Ireland. Spent 10 years in California and am ecstatic to have escaped. My professional background is largely in information security, but I do my best to not be in front of a keyboard constantly.

Speaking of not being in front of a keyboard: get me outside; I can't stand being indoors all day. If making a living by exploring trails with a Jeep was a legitimate career choice, I'd be the first one to sign up. Oddly enough, though, I can stay cooped up all day if there are movies involved: I have been known to arrive at a cinema for a matinee and not leave until after midnight.

Well, I'm 20 and a 3rd year college student. Just switched to business with a minor in history. I'm from NC but I go to school in VA. I've lived in 8 states and by far my favorite was FL. Which is where my love of the Gators comes in. As well as surfing. I surfed almost everyday of the 2 years I lived there.

I'm just hanging out in the middle of nowhere in Virginia for the time being. I dislike cold weather so perhaps being in the mountains/this far north isn't the greatest decision but, oh well, stuff happens.

I get distracted a lot by my thoughts...the squirrels that stare at me outside the art studio....foil....I write,read,think,sing,say random things, make tons of different faces...usually I come back to books I've already read and dissect it all. I will tell you what I am thinking about something or someone most of the time if I feel like it unless I don't like you and if that's the case you would already know that and not have asked me such a question...also I feel like that was a run on sentence. I love to listen to people tell stories or share their own ideas and personal experiences. I am usually the weird one amongst my friends and the one who has what I think are good ideas and the listener. People come to me a lot, but I don't take my own advice most of the time.
I like hanging out with the guys mostly and playing video games. I love movies and music and the night time when the lights are the brightest and amazing things are happening. I love to have fun and be around good people...

I don't lead but I am not one who follows. Does that make sense? I am kind to strangers. I love fully and completely. I'm a simple person, I take pleasure in simple things, and I strive for simplicity every day. I love making people happy. Laughter is the best medicine. I have a lot to give of myself, and when I can do that, my cup runneth over. I am deeply moved by God and the grace that he affords me each day. The people I love will always be my number one priority, because in the end that is really all that matters. I cannot wait to get married(one day?) I have got more going on than a cat in a room full of dogs. Lol's, not really. My accomplishments are few, personal and fairly amazing to a select few. I lived to see fifty when I thought for sure eighteen was the cut-off. I can do so much, self-taught,still take on the unknown and so pick a subject besides politics and I can contribute a little of something I suppose. I was brought up not to be too high on one's self. I love animals . Especialy dogs . It would help if you do too, but liking them would probably be enough : ) I like country living . Grew up in Nyc , right in manhattan but never want to live like that again . I like going for walks in the woods . With my dog ofcourse . My latest thing is that Im trying to be a vegatarian . Decided that if I really love animals so much I probably shouldnt eat them . Dont worry , Im not at all militant about it .Lets see . Im not a big patriot . If anything the opposite . Dont spend alot of time thinking about politics but have strong enough views to form some basic opinions . Dont have TV. That makes things a little easier . Ive spent time living on intentional communities/communes . I try and live a green life . Try and live a spiritual life . Seems to me like thats what Im here to do. Have a daily practice of yoga and prayer . Not too big into money ,tho its nice to have enough .Live pretty minimaly when it comes to that. Simple tastes etc.. Been spending time lately volunteering at the spca walking dogs . What is rewarding in my life ? When I take a dog out to pee and poop who's been holding it all day long . That is making a practical difference on the most basic level .Can you disagree ? What else. I take relationships seriously . Like I said above , I do my best to be "Loyal, Loving and Kind " and I dont have to try to be silly . My late wife if she were here , would vouch for them all.
